Wow! What a fun game. If you are a Liverpool supporter you enjoyed the game vs. Arsenal and had little to worry about. Liverpool dominated from start to finish. It was such a one-sided affair that Arsenal fans were claiming zero effort from the Gunners and renewed calls for Arsene Wenger’s head have begun. A great way to enter the International break.
Liverpool would win 4-0 in a game that you didn’t want to end. This was especially the case for the Liverpool attack, who were buzzing up and down the pitch all day. There was no question as to who would come out victorious, only how many goals would Liverpool score. The stat that best showed how lop-sided the game was would be shots on goal. Liverpool would have 10, with 5 brilliant scoring chances. Arsenal? Zero, nilch, nada.
When the game began the buzz was around the goalkeeper swap as Simon Mignolet was left off the squad in a move Klopp says was for rest. Between the pipes would be Loris Karius and Anfield had a slight nervous buzz as the game began. In the end, little did it matter who was the keeper. In fact, Klopp could have plucked any supporter from the stands and a clean sheet would still have been achieved.
Roberto Firmino got the scoring started with a header in the 17th minute off a nice cross from Joe Gomez. After that, the attack just overcame Arsenal. Sadio Mane, who has been brilliant, scored before the half to give the Reds a 2-0 halftime lead.
Mo Salah had several exceptional scoring chances nullified by Petr Cech. In the 57th minute Salah finally broke free. After an Arsenal corner and subsequent Liverpool clearance, Salah took the ball near midfield after Arsenal’s poor first touch and sprinted the half of the pitch to score making it 3-0. Daniel Sturridge would enter as a substitute and finish the scoring in the 78th minute.
It was pure domination. If Liverpool continue in this form Reds supporters are going to have a tremendously enjoyable year.
